Date: Monday, 3rd February 2025

Are you 65 years and above if so I’m reaching out to invite you to our first Older People’s Forum, which will focus on an issue that connects us all: transport.

We’re hoping to secure speakers from the transport committee, council, and community transport organisations. While no speakers are confirmed yet, we’re optimistic that representatives from these groups will join us.

This Forum is part of the Improving Ageing in North Somerset (IANS) project, a 5-year, National Lottery-funded initiative aimed at:
Giving older people a voice through forums.
Tackling isolation and promoting age-friendly communities.
Why Transport Matters:
Transport is at the heart of helping older people stay independent, active, and connected, yet it remains a significant challenge for many.

Key Findings from the State of Ageing Report:
Inadequate transport limits access to healthcare, independence, and social activities.
31% of older residents feel lonely “sometimes,” and 7% feel lonely “often.”
With nearly half the population over 50, finding transport solutions has never been more important.
Your insights and support would be incredibly valuable—not only to keep the community informed but also to inspire meaningful discussions and actionable solutions.
